MEET THE SPEAKERS:

Gert-Jan Rozemeijer is the Director and Senior Consultant at Adviesbureau Lüning, a consultancy firm with over 40 years of experience in the design of timber structures. With a solid background in structural engineering, Gert-Jan has been a driving force behind the realization of numerous sustainable timber construction projects.
He actively advocates for innovative and forward-thinking solutions to increase the market share of timber structures and other biobased materials, thereby accelerating the transition to a more sustainable built environment in the Netherlands.

With his bio-building expertise, Tim Vermeend has been pioneering timber construction for over twenty years. He’s the first Urban Climate Architect, and with The Urban Woods, he’s reaching new heights, both literally and figuratively. He’s turned the concept of “building” inside out and developed a new perspective on urban living. Sustainable, functional, and simply beautiful.
Tim is on a mission: to prove that circular construction works, even for low-income earners. With his architectural firm, he has designed over 78,000 m² of timber construction projects and inspired architects from around the world.

Alex de Rijke founded dRMM London in 1995 with a series of groundbreaking projects built in engineered and recycled wood. He collaborates in practice and academia, conducting research into and design with contemporary materials, technologies and methods of construction. Through his leadership, dRMM has become a recognised pioneer and authority on engineered timber building design.
De Rijke is TUDelft’s first Professor of Timber Architecture.

Finbar Charleson is Research Leader at dRMM, working with academic and professional partners to develop prototypes and best practice for sustainable design. His specialist interest lies in timber construction, explored on projects at dRMM, as the inaugural AA Wood Lab Research fellow at Hooke Park, and as a Design Technology Lecturer at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL.

Michael H. Ramage is a globally recognised leader in sustainable architecture and bio-based construction. He is Professor of Architecture and Engineering at the University of Cambridge, founding Director of the Centre for Natural Material Innovation, co-founder and CEO of Cambridge Transformation Labs, and a partner at the architecture practice Light Earth Designs. Across his roles as academic, practitioner and advisor, Michael is a vocal advocate for bringing natural materials into the mainstream of construction, demonstrating how they can underpin a more climate-positive, socially grounded future for the built environment.

Gilbert Koskamp ( event host) is a lecturer at Delft University of Technology in the Department of Architectural Engineering and Technology, a research tutor at the Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam, and co-founder and partner at Ssse | OvO Associates Architects. He is focused on researching on design of timber construction and is a founder of TREE_TimberREengineered, as well as the initiator and coordinator of Touching Cellulose, a high-end timber lecture series on BK Wood.
Hope we see you there.
