Organic Growth Infrastructure: An approximation on how to provide a tool for self-design in a desert refugee camp by Felipe Lopez Taverne, Masters of Building Technology TU Delft, EXTREME Technology Studio (2021)

Through active participation in the planning and design process, community members are able to influence the form and function of the building. Constructed from a steel mesh, fabric and gravel fill, the walls of the construction is modular and can be configured to suit the needs of the community, whether that is a school, community space or somewhere to shelter from the sun. The modularity of the building is protected by timber trusses that allow flexible room volumes.
