Gabonsa Pavilion explores how temporary architecture can be designed around reuse and adaptability. Developed by students from Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences for the Gabonsa Music Festival in Innsbruck, the pavilion creates a flexible gathering space using a simple timber system that can be fully dismantled and reused after the event.

The structure is built entirely from standard 4-metre timber beams connected with reversible screw joints, avoiding adhesives and permanent connections. By limiting cuts and keeping the elements in their original dimensions, the pavilion treats timber as a reusable resource rather than a disposable construction material.

What makes the project particularly interesting is the way the construction logic becomes part of the architecture. The stepped timber framework responds to the topography of the site, creating seating, viewing platforms, and informal gathering spaces while remaining lightweight and adaptable. Combined with reused and unconventional materials such as construction foil, safety netting, and tension straps, the pavilion demonstrates how simple components can be transformed into a temporary structure with a long-term purpose.
